Real talk from the C‑suite,
for leaders who dare to lead.

I'm Lisa Chubb — a multi-state post-acute care executive who has spent a career in the rooms where healthcare leadership actually gets tested, and I write and speak about what that work really requires.

About

Twenty years leading skilled nursing operations, from the bedside to the boardroom.

I'm Chief Nursing Officer at Venza Care, where I provide enterprise clinical oversight across a multi-state skilled nursing portfolio — quality, regulatory compliance, and reimbursement performance. Before that, I spent five years as Chief Clinical Officer at Brickyard Healthcare, leading nursing, reimbursement, dietetics, and informatics across 24 centers, 6,500 employees, and 2,000+ residents, reporting directly to the CEO, President, and Board.

I did the jobs I now oversee — DON, MDS, reimbursement, home health operations — which is why I write and speak about leadership the way it actually happens on the floor, not the way it reads on a slide. Alongside my executive work, I teach as Capstone Instructor in the BSN program at Indiana Wesleyan University, and I write under the NurseChubb name.

“Beyond the Dashboard: What AI Should—and Shouldn’t—Do in Skilled Nursing”

A 2027 conference session proposal built from real AI Opportunity Log work inside a live skilled nursing organization — currently in submission.

The Book

Not Another Leadership Book

Conventional Wisdom. Insanity. Perseverance. GRIT. — real talk from the C-suite for every healthcare leader who dares to lead.

Currently being written

The book is built around four anchor words that trace the arc of a healthcare leadership career — from what you're taught to expect, through what actually breaks you, to what gets you through it anyway.

I.

Conventional Wisdom

The leadership advice everyone repeats — and where it quietly stops matching the floor.

II.

Insanity

The parts of the job that don't make sense until you've lived them — toxic boards, reductions in force, lateral violence.

III.

Perseverance

What it actually takes to stay standing — and stay decent — through the insanity.

IV.

GRIT

The leadership that's left once conventional wisdom runs out — earned, not assigned.
